When searching for Disney imagineering books on my Kindle, I stumbled upon this book by Louis Prosperi, and I have to say I was remarkably glad I did. The Imagineering Pyramid is a well-written personal quest by the author to learn and research the tactics and techniques the Imagineers use to design our favorite attractions. What is appreciated is how many personal relations there are between the Imagineering Pyramid model and the techniques Mr. Prosperi has used in the outside world in his career. He depicts how these tools can be used not just for Disney attraction imagineering, but the gaming industry as well. This useful pyramid structure can also come in handy for novel writing, board room presentations, business pitches, and much more! The 'post-show' elements in particular are helpful to provide a summation of the main points of the 'pyramid' chapters, and the combined chapter 'post-show' check-list towards the end of the book near the appendix section is also a great feature. Perhaps my favorite chapter was Chapter 17 - it's a small world effect, since in a way that combined many prior elements into one; read-ability, core themes, story, all of that could be combined into the repetitive reinforcement that 'it's a small world' brings, among the other examples of the Tiki Room (Tiki,Tiki Tiki Tiki Room) and so on. In many ways this reads like a 'textbook' on imagineering. This is a must-have book for anyone interested in creative design or the methods behind the magic of Disney parks!
